While there is no doubt that links exist between the two, itвЂ™s also certain that ChopinвЂ™s temperament was quite different from that of his predecessor, as was the range of his modes of expression.

Mention is often made of the influence on Chopin of the Irishman John Field, generally credited as the father of the nocturne. But they can also be viewed as a sort of experiment chamber, where Chopin, so to speak in the obscurity of the dark, tries out some of his most daring harmonic and formal inventions. The Nocturnes span the whole of ChopinвЂ™s career, and among them are some of the composerвЂ™s most beloved works, such as the infinitely tender and graceful Op. 9 are a set of three nocturnes for solo piano written by FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin between 18, published in 1832, and dedicated to Madame Marie Pleyel.These were Chopins first published set of nocturnes. The pianist was introduced to Chopin's nocturnes at a young age with the first Nocturne (Op.9/1) and the Nocturnes have kept him company to the present day.
